Before I get into that devotion, I wanted to let everyone know that I'll be writing more consistently on the blog this summer. There will be scripture, testimonies, craft, recipe and lesson ideas, thoughts and questions and who knows what else. I hope you'll check back throughout the summer to see what God's doing through GFG and our blog.
Our Devotion
The verse we looked at Sunday was Revelation 19:13 "He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood and his name is called the Word of God."
This verse may seem a little heavy and it is to some extent. The scene this verse is taken from is in the end of times and Jesus is returning to earth with his army of angels and is making this glorious return. His robe he's wearing is stained with blood-his blood that was shed because he died for you, for me. It serves as a reminder and a symbol of his unbelievable love for us.
However, it was the second part of the verse that had an effect on me-"His name is called the Word of God." I mean I've heard him called this before, but for some reason this time it was different when I read it. Do you really realize that when you spend time with God reading his word-you are in direct contact with him? This verse proves it-it says he is the Word of God. The scripture is God; he is the Bible. That's why it's called the "Living Bible", it's literally alive. It is God. Hebrews 4:12 says "For the Word of the Lord is living and active."
Take that in just for a second if you can. It's no joke. You will absolutely know when he's talking to you when you start reading his word-there's no missing it.
So my challenge to the girls and to those of you reading is this: When was the last time you heard from the Word of God?
Love to hear from you!
Lea :)
